Lovely weather = rapid drying!
After our exit from World Cup cheer yourself up by enjoying the glorious weather we are experiencing right now. It's the perfect time for my business as carpeting is ready for use in no time with the increase in temperature. I cleaned some carpets in the lovely village of Foulsham today which took me through several little villages which made a nice change from the usual. I guess because I've lived in Norfolk for all of my life it's easy to take our county for granted. Today's little jaunt gave me a reminder. Enjoy the sunshine!
Congratulations to the England Cricket Team on wining the One day International Series against the Aussies by going 3 up with 2 to play, a bit tense but they got there in the end!
21st May 2010A note of thanks to our customers old and new, this month I celebrate Arena Cleaning Services' 17th anniversary. I formed Arena Cleaning Services in 1993 when I was an unlikely 25 years old. Diesel was around £0.52 per litre back then and Jackie and I had one child and one on the way. Our eldest is now 20 and our 2nd daughter Rebecca was born just 45 days after we cut the ribbon. Our son Bret was not even a twinkle. I was looking through some old invoices and I have a lot of familiar names who are still customers to this day, thank you for your support and custom. The chemicals and equipment we use have come an awful long way which is good news for the industry and our customers. in just 3 short years we will have reached the double decade and still my works excites me. I am fortunate to enjoy what I do.

23 April 2010Keep your carpets healthy
Dust and debris in your carpeting will add to it's general poor appearance and are a harbour for dust mites. All of our customers vac their carpeting regularly but it's important to make sure the right of choice of vacuum is used. In general terms if your carpeting is a loop pile use a machine without a brush or beater bar. Regular cleaning with a brush machine will lead to strands being loosened from the loop causing pilling and damaging the fibre. A cut pile will be fine. Vacuum regularly to prevent loose soil saturating the pile. Some find their machines performance deteriorates over time so If your machine has filters ensure they are cleaned once every 3 weeks, more often if you have pets. For a vacuum to suck it must have airflow through the filters, I find having two sets of filters eases the situation, whilst one is washed and drying a fresh one can be fitted straight away. Pre motor filters should be replaced at least once a year. Bagless vacuums will benefit having the cyclone areas 'tapped out' once a month. A small hand brush is useful. Machines that use bags. Use a fresh clean bag often even if it is not full. Particles of dust will block the the fine mesh inside bags reducing your vacuums performance. With brushes and beater bars check for debris which can wrap itself around the bristles. It's easily cleared using a pair of nail scissors to cut it clear, be careful not to cut off the bristles. When using a vacuum it's the backward stroke with upright machines that is doing the business, use the crevice tool around the edges for all those little bits of fluff. Be sure to move furniture where possible.
We recommend yearly deep cleaning with our professional cleaning service and If you have pets you may consider more frequent cleans. Regular vacuuming will extend the life of your carpeting considerably but there will still be abrasive grit deep in the pile. We empty and clean our recovery tanks after each job so be sure to ask to see the clean recovery tank before we start and then take a look afterwards. The grit and debris that has been extracted with professional cleaning can clearly be seen. It is this grit that degrades and wears the pile on your carpeting so keep you vac in good order, it will save you a fortune.

It has been a busy two weeks and there are just a few days before the Easter holidays. Our commercial clients have been spring cleaning their carpeting in preparation for those that visit us in Norfolk rinsing away the last remnants of a rather wet and cold winter, it has not been easy fitting it all in but we have managed, just. Our domestic customers are now making appointments for after the holidays when their families return to work or school as we all get ready for the hopefully better weather!
Manor Farm Camping and Caravan Park are also deep in preparation. We look after the shower blocks for them during the season and it was a surprise to see another state of the art shower block nearing completion. This is the 3rd new build on the site in recent years and must mark the park out as one of the best family parks on the east coast. Cleansmart who recently supplied our Airflex Turbo Machine, have expanded their range of environmentally friendly cleaning products using micro-splitting technology. One I am particularly excited about is a product called HD-X Heavy duty micro-splitter specifically for synthetic carpeting. This expands further our range which are now fibre specific whether it's wool, blends or synthetic we now have a green-safe product for all situations. Also from the same company an organic acidic rinse agent has been developed which will help us considerably in maintaining our eco friendly approach. Prochem one of Europes biggest suppliers have also been busy expanding their Natural Range. It's great to see our industry rising to the challenge now expected by our customers.
